QUARTERLY ESTIMATES
- For the March quarter 2009, there were 48 disputes, 5 more than in the December quarter 2008.
- The number of employees involved in industrial disputes in the March quarter 2009 was 8,400, a decrease from 62,900 in the December quarter 2008.
- There were 11,600 working days lost due to industrial disputation in the March quarter 2009, a decrease from 31,100 in the December quarter 2008.
- The Construction industry accounted for 4,300 (37%) of the total number of working days lost in the March quarter 2009. The Coal mining industry had the highest number of working days lost per thousand employees (20.2) for the quarter.
- In the March quarter 2009, Victoria accounted for 4,200 (36%) of working days lost.
YEAR ENDED ESTIMATES
- During the year ended March 2009, there were 139 disputes, 3 less than in the year ended March 2008.
- During the year ended March 2009, there were 78,900 working days lost compared with 85,600 in the year ended March 2008.
